Pacifica Leadership

Jesse Harding —

Ranalia Savelio is this year's winner of the Judith Brailsford Cup for Pasifika Leadership and the IP Anderson Award.

Ranalia has been a tremendous asset to Pasifika culture at Linwood College since she was Year 9. She has represented Linwood College in Polyfest every year and has been a mentor to all Pasifika students due to the positive nature and strong work ethic she displays. This year, she stepped into a key leadership role as a Pasifika Leader and Polyfest leader and grew so much from this. Ranalia led from the front at each practice, remained calm and respectful at all times and became a safe person for people to go to for support. This learner is not only a leader for our Pasifika students but all students at Linwood College. Through being a prefect and Pasifika leader, she was acknowledged at the first annual Learning Community Hubs Ōtautahi leadership evening and the SPACPAC Supreme Awards evening for not only leadership but also academic achievement to a high level. Ranalia also gives so much to the Pasifika community outside of school through church and being in Tama Mai Saute's very best girls group for Pasifika Performance. For 5 years she has given so much to Pasifika Culture at Linwood College. She will be missed, as will her leadership. A truly deserving recipient of these awards.
