Level 3 on-site learning: "the vast majority at home"
Thank you to the whānau who have replied that they require supervision of their Yr 7-10 children in Level 3. We are pleased that we can offer this supervising service to assist our community.
Likewise thank you to what is the "vast majority" of our whānau who are able to continue distance learning at home for their children. Repeating the government's message from the last community communication:
The key message for us is that if we can, we should keep our children at home. We should only physically send our children to school if we need to. If our child has a health condition that means they are at a greater risk of a severe illness we must keep them at home. If our child is sick please also ensure we keep them at home.
We are working through the processes for the on-site learning and will communicate with these specific families directly.

With approved staff now able to enter schools for preparation for re-opening, yesterday our caretaking and grounds staff and I walked around the site. There was nothing out of the ordinary and our maintenance staff have began site preparation. Tomorrow our cleaning staff re-start, again following Ministry of Education and Health guidelines.

Home Learning | Papa Kāinga TV is free to air on TVNZ channel 2+1, TVNZ on Demand, as well as on Sky Channel 502 and Vodafone TV.
It can be live streamed at tvnz.co.nz/livetv. Some lessons are also available on TVNZ OnDemand from the Home Learning TV landing page.
There’s an email address for learners and their whānau to give feedback – info@HLTV.co.nz – and learners can text free to 5811 to interact with the teachers and presenters.
The Ministry of Education has had a number of inquiries about content for Pacific learners. Home Learning TV programming is being developed and delivered by teams that include Pacific content developers, teachers, and presenters. We’ll continue to include content that is relevant to a wide range of New Zealanders, including Pacific peoples.

While your children are learning from home, they are away from the online safety and security services provided by Network for Learning (N4L) at school. So together with N4L and Netsafe, the Ministry of Education have launched www.switchonsafety.co.nz - a free way to block the worst of the web for students and teachers.
We are sharing this website so that you can follow the instructions to set up your child’s device for safer connectivity while they learn from home.
Please remember, no technical solution is a silver bullet. We suggest that you complement switch on safety with digital citizenship toolkits provided by Netsafe https://www.netsafe.org.nz/the-kit/resources-to-support-families-and-whanau/.
