We remain open for full learning at Level 2.

Kia ora koutou. Talofa. Kia Orana. Malo e lelei. Bula. Fakaalofa atu. Namaste and Kumusta. Greetings to everyone at LCŌ and our wider LCŌ community.

As we begin week 5 of the term we are aware that on Friday evening the Prime Minister announced there will be no change to current alert levels for the next 10 days, taking us to two full weeks in total. Auckland will remain at Alert Level 3 and the rest of the country at Alert Level 2 until 11.59pm 26 August.

Also, Cabinet will review this decision this coming Friday, 21 August and formally consider Alert Levels on Monday, 24 August.

We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to continue with a positive learning routine with comparatively minimal disruptive factors.

There is also considerable underlying anxiety so I wish again to thank everyone - students, whānau, and staff - for coming together for the wellbeing of all.

Being where we all should be

I am repeating the importance of everyone being punctual to all classes. Any student who is not where they are supposed to be and is attempting to play the system will be sent home. This is essential for the contact tracking and tracing for the healthy functioning of our school community.

Time marches on

At the end of this week we are halfway through the term. I am encouraging all parents to be asking their NCEA-aged children about their progress.

NCEA credit requirements have been adjusted and the end of "NCEA-year" has been extended so there is no cause for panic or stress. However, equally, every NCEA student, supported by their whānau, needs to know:

Whānau can access their child's NCEA results through the parent portal on our website. If you have any questions about how to do this or any log-in difficulties, please contact the school office.

Mr Paul Osborne, DP, is the person with oversight for NCEA. He welcomes parents contacting him directly if this is useful: obn@linwoodcollege.school.nz; 03 982 0100 ext 800

Wā Whakanui and Academic Conferences Term 3

These events will help with the above questions. The term 3 Wā Whakanui and Academic Conferences for Years 9-13 are being held on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th September.

Years 7-8 will have a celebration of learning event instead that will take place during the last week of term. More information to come on this will be provided closer to the time.

These Wā Whakanui and Academic Conferences serve two purposes:

Bookings are open to whānau. To make an appointment to meet with your child and their Kaiārahi, please visit www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and use the event code: r7hkv. Alternatively you can email office@linwoodcollege.school.nz or phone (03) 982 0100 to make your appointment.

Go well this week. I put out another article if anything of significance is communicated to us by either the Ministries of Education or Health.

Likewise,if any member of our school whānau wishes to talk to us about anything, please contact your child's dean either directly or through the office. Alternatively, to talk with me, my direct email is en@linwoodcollege.school.nz and my direct dial is 982 0100 ext 839.

Ngā mihi
