Duke of Edinburgh Award

Briar Dumelow —

Students out, beyond the comfort zone.

A group of students have been getting out of their comfort zone with the support of the Joshua Foundation.

We have a great cohort of students currently involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, here at Te Aratai College. We have a significant number of our prefect students completing their Gold level award, and other students are steadily working towards their Silver and Bronze awards.

There are four main parts to the award: an adventurous journey, physical recreation, skill development and service to the community. In January, some of our students tramped along tracks in the Porters Pass, Lake Lyndon, and Korowai Tussocklands area. The students who went on this trip faced some challenging climbs are were rewarded with fantastic views.
