Karaka House Deans' Report

Robbie Timo & Amelia Painter —

Kia ora koutou, and warm greetings from Karaka house.

At our recent whole school assembly, a number of our students were presented with certificates for having an attendance of 96% or higher – quite an achievement for this time of year. Those who received them were: Emma Ingram, Johnrick Maravilla, Divikesh Prasad, Liella Tindoy, Fabian Kazakos-Gardner, Kaltan Kazakos-Gardner, Johnny-Owen Stringer, Denise Joy Dilay, John Pancho, Avikesh Prasad and Alice Ross.

As the weather is getting cooler can you please take some time over the holidays to check your son/daughter has everything they need. If there are financial concerns at home please do communicate with your Ako teacher – we may be able to help.

Just a reminder that you can access your son’s/daughter’s attendance via the Kamar parent portal. If you need help logging on or need your password, please contact us at school. Their attendance record is live on the portal.

Our Year 11-13 students have now completed two-thirds of their academic year as Term 4 only has 4 weeks in it before they go on study leave. Most students are working hard and gaining credits. Please encourage your child to keep pushing for higher grades and never give up, even if it feels challenging right now. The teachers all want our learners to succeed and will offer extra help when needed.

In the junior school we have had our supporting schools visit with prospective students for 2022. It is great they see our juniors in action in the various classes they have here at Linwood College. Of course, they will soon be in Te Aratai next year. Winter sport is well underway with playoffs happening soon and coaching camps taking place in the holidays. I am coaching at an U15 Rugby camp at Haeata and an U18 camp at Burnham army site during the break. Looking forward to the break as busy as it is but love being able to coach rugby.

As we head towards the holidays, take some time out to recharge your batteries - Term 3 will be another busy one.
