From the 28th-30th May 2019, thirteen Year 10 students from Linwood College completed an arduous 60 km 3-Day, Duke of Edinburgh International Award Adventurous Journey with the Joshua Foundation. Student Sophie Watson shares her experience.
"The Duke of Edinburgh trip was an amazing experience! It was awesome to get out and do something a bit different. The bike ride especially was quite challenging with a lot of headwinds but when we reached the end it was definitely worth it. I also loved all the amazing views at the top of the hills. And I think the best part was spending time with my friends in a different environment and I made connections with people who I wouldn't normally spend time with which was really nice. "
The students started on the Banks Peninsula and finished over in Sumner. The Joshua Foundation has delivered the award for Linwood college for the past 12 years and has facilitated the Award for over 400 students, with students gaining the Bronze; Silver & Gold Awards. Chris Allan the facilitator was very proud of the participants.
