2022 End-of-Year BBQ

To celebrate the end of the 2022 school year and to provide an opportunity to meet other families and your child/ren’s teacher/s, we warmly invite you to our End of Year BBQ, on Wednesday 16th November, from 5.30-7.30 pm. Please bring a picnic tea for your own family to eat. You may also like to bring a picnic rug to sit on in the area in front of Rooms 1, 2 and 3, or other areas in the front of the school. The school will also provide a sausage and meat patty for those who would like them. Halal options will be available. During the evening, you will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the refreshing of our school values. More information will follow this. We look forward to as many families joining us as possible.

School Closing Early Due to Teachers Paid Union Meeting

The teachers union will be having a paid meeting on the afternoon of Wednesday 23rd November. As such, school will close on this day at 12.30 pm (no lunch). Thank you for your support. The teachers are campaigning on the following points that will help improve the education of your children. These are in summary points:

  • Smaller Class Sizes

  • More Learning Support

  • Principal's Well Being

  • Support for Māori

  • Support for Pasifika

At our Board of Trustees meeting this week, the Board moved that they supported all of the teachers' claims and saw these things as making a huge difference to what the Board could provide in terms of education at Te Kāpehu. There will most probably be a lot in the media about this over the coming weeks so please support our teachers’ claims as much as possible.

Final School Prize Giving Assembly

We are having our final prize giving assembly at 1pm at Riccarton High School on Monday 12 December. We have made the decision this year to make this for our middle and senior school only (Team Kahikatea and Team Kapuka). This is due to the fact that it is a longer formal event and some of our younger learners struggle with this. However, we will have an end of year assembly for Team Patiti at school. Details of this will follow.
