Kindness in the Community
Kāpuka have been learning about respecting others, showing kindness, the community, and generally understanding others better.
Students have developed different projects, like fundraisers for community groups or making connections within our community. Some of Room 1's students decided they would like to visit the local early childhood centre, Sancta Maria Montessori.
The students took games and activities and were eager to meet these little 'friends'! When we arrived, the students took a little time to get to know each other, but once the ice was broken they had the best time!
Activities included:
playing in the sandpit
reading books to each other
learning to catch the ball
duck, duck goose games
practising our counting skills
and generally just enjoying the day in each others' company.
Both groups had lots to smile about, and Room 1 were great role models for the young learners. They proudly displayed the 3Rs that Riccarton values; Respect, Responsibility, and Real Learning. There is even talk of making it a more regular visit!
Special thank you to Sancta Maria for allowing us to visit their fantastic pre-school!
