The Great NZ Seedling Sale 🌿
Our knees were shivering and our arms grew goosebumps as we munched on hot chips to keep us warm. We waited until our first customer arrived. They opened up their wallet and took out a $5 note “That’s our first sale!” said Colin and that's when it all began……
To support Harakeke’s learning this term and the 'Garden to Table' programme, on Sunday the 28th October, we were gifted a stall by the Riccarton Rotary at The Riccarton Sunday Market.
Colin and Mrs Lees were at the Market to support the running of the stall. They sold seedlings and other items grown and made during our 'Garden to Table' programme.
A huge thank you to Tahnee Brickland and Tom Hu, who offered their freetime on Sunday to support. They were a wonderful help and did an outstanding job of encouraging customers to buy something!
A very special mention to Tom who stayed the whole day, from 9-2pm, selling seedlings, raffle tickets, helping Colin and Mrs Lees and then staying behind at the end to tidy up the stall and load up Colin’s trailer!
Thank you to everyone that came down to support our Seedling Sale. We raised $492.20 for the schools 'Garden to Table' programme!
The Seedling Sale

Me, Mrs Lees and Colin went to the Sunday Market and we had a lot of customers and we made a lot of money. Tahnee, Ms Brickland, Mrs Lees, Mr Lees, Colin, Mum, Dad and I helped. I was in charge of the raffle tickets and I stayed until 2 o'clock but we didn’t sell all of the plants. Colin and I worked together, and we had a lot of customers when Mrs Lees and Mr Lees went to go and buy some food to eat.
We saw lots of people from school, Krystal, Diamond, Allisa, Jaxon and his brother, Ryder and his family, Debbie, Debbie’s grandson George and Debbie's husband Tom, Karen, Emma and Mrs Waterman.
It was a great day. I had lots of fun!
Selling the plants

On Sunday I went to the Seedling Sale with my mum and dad. We were helping sell plants. Me and Tom were selling raffle tickets. We sold heaps of plants at the Seedling Sale. My favourite part was selling the plants! It was really cold, and I had forgotten my coat. Luckily Mrs Lees let me borrow her coat!
