Dear Parents and Caregivers

Honours Wall Assembly

We are fast approaching the end of the term and it has been great to see all of the learning that has been happening across the school throughout the term. We are having our end of term Honours Wall assembly on Friday morning at 9.15am. For new families, this is a time where we honour those learners who have received a perfect score throughout the term under our Respectful, Responsible, Real Learners' system. We also do some lucky prize draws for those learners who have won Club R3 raffle tickets as Respectful, Responsible, Real Learners and give awards to lucky learners and staff who have been working really hard across our school! It is a fun time to celebrate the term.

This Friday, one of our senior learners will be awarded the Sir Peter Blake Trust Young Leader's Award. Information about the award is as follows;

“Sir Peter showed all of us there are leaders and there are dreamers. Leaders make things happen. Dreamers have a vision. The truly special people do both. The first step to making these dreams happen is to believe in yourself, and to believe you can do it. We believe our Young Leaders can do it. In that spirit, and in partnership with Westpac, our Young Leaders' Awards celebrate young people whose leadership stands out in their schools and communities. Each year, we offer 1 award to a year 5 – 8 student in every NZ Primary and Intermediate school.”

The School Gate

Due to a very small number of drivers not making good choices at the school gate, we have put road cones out to stop cars stopping on the yellow lines. Thank you to the 95% of people dropping off and picking up children safely. Please remember that you can’t stop on yellow lines ever, double parking is also not allowed and doing a U turn at the school gate area is just plain dangerous, especially when there are children crossing. There is room further down English street most days and you get the added benefit of a nice walk. You can also park on Colman Avenue (out the back of the school by the rugby/soccer field) and your children can meet you out there where there is very little traffic. Thank you for your cooperation.

New class starting in Term 3

Due to roll growth we will be starting a new Year 1 and 2 class in Term 3. This class will be in the newly formed Room 13. This is a classroom space between the hall and the office block that we have been using as a resource room and teachers' work room. We have appointed Haley Forrester to take this class. Haley is an experienced teacher who has taught in Christchurch, on the West Coast and also in the United Kingdom. We are pleased to welcome Haley to our school.

We have made the decision to keep Room 12 empty at this stage, but may need to utilise this for new enrolments between now and the end of the year.

Start of Term 3

School finishes for the term this Friday 6th July and starts for Term 3 on Monday 23rd July.

Ngā mihi nui
