Bee Awesome

Whaea Jo —

Haere mai, he pī mīharo. Welcome to our beekeeper Lesley Hurst. Bees are awesome, we know, and so is Lesley who is the Group Coordinator for Bee Awesome / He Pī Mīharo.

Bee Awesome

Last week Lesley began teaching our tamariki how beehives work and how we can help our bees survive. Te Kāpehu Riccarton will soon have its own beehive to care for and learn from.

Last week we learned about some of the equipment that Beekeepers need to keep themselves safe and some equipment that helps keep the bees safe. Ask any of our Kāpuka (Rooms 1-3 tamariki ) what they wear to keep safe. You could even ask them how many different types of bees there are in a hive.

Can you spot the beekeeping equipment in the photo?
