This year we were incredibly lucky to be offered the opportunity for a group of our Māori learners to participate in a pilot Mana Ake Taiaha and Carving Group during Term 3.

 This group ran at school once a week and was led by kaimahi Kevin and Chris.

The purpose of this group was for the learners involved to learn about Māori history and self-discipline, self-esteem and respect.

It was fantastic to see the group coming together and gaining confidence over the 10 weeks. The group finished with a presentation to the whole school to share the skills they have learnt and demonstrated a lot of skill and confidence.
