West Zone Swimming

Whāea Jade —

The swimming season ended with eight learners from Kāpuka and Kahikatea representing Riccarton Primary School at the recent West Zone Swimming Sports.

They impressed everyone with the effort, determination and perseverance they showed during training with Whāea Janette. They didn’t even let the rain stop them from practising!

As Thursday 14th March rolled around, the swimmers were all very nervous and excited for the competition at Jellie Park. They put all their training to good use, put in 110% effort and made RPS proud!

Huge congratulations to all of our RPS West Zone swimmers, especially to those who managed to gain a placing:

  • Pearl Kingi-Hazel - second in Year 7 Girls' 50m backstroke

  • Tyrese Maruera-Bolt - fourth in Year 8 Boys' 50m backstroke

  • Nikita Holmes - fourth in Year 7 Girls' 50m breaststroke

  • Thomas Setefano - fourth in Year 8 Boys' 50m freestyle

  • Sieni Taleni - fourth in Year 6 Girls' 50m breaststroke

Our other awesome swimmers were Mya Norris, Luisa Senetenari and Kade Cox-Smith.

Good luck to Pearl Kingi-Hazel, who is off to represent the West Zone and RPS at the Centrals' Swimming competition in Rolleston, on Thursday 4th April!
