Attendance:
As we reach the end of another term at Te Kāpehu, we wanted to talk to you about something super important: Regular attendance. You would have seen through the media that attendance is slipping all over New Zealand!
Coming to school every day is a big deal, and it sets the stage for your child's success, both in their studies and in their social lives. Every single day counts, and we want to create an environment where our students can become respectful, responsible, real learners
Here are a few reasons why regular attendance is important:
Keep the Learning Going: When your child is at school every day, they don't miss out on any cool lessons or class discussions. Each day is packed with new stuff to learn, skills to develop, and fun activities to participate in.
Make Friends and Connect: Regularly coming to school helps your child make strong bonds with their classmates and teachers. These friendships create a sense of belonging and support, making the classroom a positive and inclusive place. Plus, hanging out with friends and teachers helps kids build social skills and learn how to work together.
Academic Achievement: Showing up regularly really pays off in the achievement of your child. Studies have shown that students who attend school regularly tend to do better academically. They get more chances to understand the material, ask questions, and get help when they need it. So, attending school every day is like building a solid foundation for future success!
Be Responsible and On Time: Being at school every day teaches your child the importance of being responsible and punctual. They learn how to manage their time, be organised, and stick to their commitments. These are super important life skills that will help them in everything they do.
Take Care of the Whole You/Mauri Ora: School is about more than just books and learning. It's a place where kids grow in every way. Regular attendance ensures that your child has access to all the awesome support we offer. Being here every day means they can join in sports, explore their talents, and take care of their overall well-being.
We get it, life happens, and sometimes absences are unavoidable. But we kindly ask that you make attending school a top priority and try your best to schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours. By doing that, you're giving your child the best chance to thrive and succeed.
Thanks for being amazing parents and partners in your child's education. Let's work together to make regular attendance a cool thing and help our students make the most of their time here!
Staff Changes
Please be advised of the following staff changes that will take place from the start of next term. Judith Kee has been appointed as the team leader in team Kapuka taking over from Richelle Reid.
