Is your child coming to Riccarton High School next year?
We need new Board members.
Representing our parent community on the Riccarton High School Board of Trustees is a great way to give back to our fantastic school, a place where our teenagers forge their steps to adulthood under the guidance of dedicated teachers.
Our school will be undertaking a parent election for 6 School Board vacancies. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday 15th July 2022.
Like any organisation, our board transitions from one team to another as students graduate and family connections change direction.
There is an election for a new Board of Trustees in September and some of our current trustees are stepping aside.
I’d like to encourage parents to put themselves forward for this important voluntary position in our school. We hold a stewardship or governance role – setting the framework for the best interests of the school and our community. We are tasked with strategic planning and providing oversight and accountability for the school.
I am happy to meet anyone who is interested to talk through what we do and the commitment required to be a trustee, which starts with a monthly three-hour board meeting. There’s lots of training available and our new team will be a mix of experienced and newly-elected trustees.
