Ramadan Celebration

Mrs Brickland, Nargis & Amina —

Ramadan ended on 14 June this year, prompting celebrations as the 1.6 billion Muslims across the world mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr. Translated from Arabic as “the feast of the breaking of the fast”, the festival began as the moon rose on Thursday evening and can continue for up to three days.

Yesterday I went to the Eid celebration. I went with my mum and my dad, my grandma, Zahra, Amina, Ali-Jan, Mandi, Mustafa and all my aunties. My aunty did henna on my hands. We went to mosque. We prayed, and then it was night time. We went to Ali-Jan's house for dinner. It was fun.

On Saturday it was Eid, and we had to go to Mosque at 9 o'clock. First we did praying, then people gave cakes and cupcakes. There was some Afghani food and it was so yummy. We played hide and seek. After that we went into the living room and had party games. There was a lot of things to do. It was so fun! After that we went home because it was finished. Some Afghani people came to our home to celebrate Eid.
