Kia ora koutou

Thanks to everyone who came to our Learning Conferences this week. We had 73% of our families attend which is a fantastic effort. Being involved in your child’s education makes a huge difference to their long term success as a Respectful, Responsible, Real Learner. If you were not able to make it in, please make another time to come and see your child’s teacher. Remember, our doors are always open, and you are always welcome to connect with your child’s teacher, so please do so.

School is closed next Monday 10th August

Please remember our teachers only day is being held next Monday 10th August. School is closed on this day.

Pūtaringamotu Kāhui Ako

We are part of a cluster of schools called a Kāhui Ako with Riccarton High School, Wharenui School and a number of Early Childhood Centres. We work together on areas of shared need to raise the achievement of learners across our schools. We have just been accepted onto a Ministry of Education Professional Development Contract, which will focus on creating authentic deep learning opportunities for our learners. It will be exciting to see this project develop and we look forward to further collaboration with these schools and early childhood centres.

Christchurch School Rebuild and Property Work

We are very close to finalising the master plan for property work at Riccarton Primary. The Ministry will give us some information to share with you in the near future that will outline the plans being put in place. I can confirm that we will be building a new adventure playground with quotes for this due to come in next week, with a build time in January and February of next year. We will also be relining our swimming pool so that it is water tight and will construct a new basketball court. Hopefully I can share more details on the classroom builds and developments very soon.

Hygiene

We are still pushing the important health and hygiene messages of:

  • staying home when you are sick

  • washing hands regularly

  • coughing and sneezing into your arm or armpit.

Please continue to reinforce these messages with your children at home too.

Have a fantastic week and please continue to encourage your children to be respectful, responsible, real learners!

Ngā mihi nui

Paul Irving
