Woodend Camp - Kāpuka Camp

Kerrinah Davis —

On Wednesday we went to Woodend camp. I was so excited I couldn’t wait!

The bus eventually came, it felt like it took 1 hour until we arrived at Woodend.

When we got there we settled into our bunkrooms, and got our beds ready for the night.

Then we went to Tuhaitara Park to learn about native birds and where mudfish live. And had a long walk along Woodend beach.

After all of that we finally got to the activity part. The things we did on Wednesday were Aero Jump and Flying Fox and had some free time. During the free time we played on the trampolines, gaga pit, mini golf, playground, basketball and 9 square. And that was fun! And at night we had a talk with Esther our camp host and were encouraged to be kind people who make good choices.

After a long night, with little sleep,  it came to Thursday morning. We had a hearty breakfast of cereal, porridge, toast and milo. The activities we did on Thursday were climbing walls and team building. That night we held our Camp Concert. I liked camp concert because we got to have chocolate at the end! (yummy)

That night I couldn’t go to sleep because Kaydence kept snoring her head off when I was trying to go back to sleep. Then Whaea Sarah walked in and said it was 7:00am!

Our last activities were go karts, orienteering, water slide, archery and rifle shooting. The funniest thing for me was the go karts because I’ve never ever been on anything like that before.

So that was all the things we did at Woodend camp. And I think it was better than last year's camp too :).

A huge thank you to our whānau who came along and helped us, without you it would not have been possible to go! And we loved your Camp Concert item, Georgine, Jamie, Anna, Jordy, Morne and Duncan - you rock! Also to Jon, Esther and Willy at the Camp, thank you for taking good care of us.
