Dear Parents and Caregivers

There have been a number of exciting things happening at school recently.

Gold Key Mentoring

Golden Key Mentoring Canterbury offered some of our learners the opportunity to work on a project with a university student with a shared interest. The project took place over four weeks during this term. Last week they had the opportunity to share their completed projects with their family, the other learners and mentors in a presentation at the hall. There were some pretty impressive presentations, showcasing learning and skills gained. Well done to all of them!

Canta Maths

This week, we also had teams compete in the Canta Maths competition where selected teams solve maths problems under the pressure of  competing against other teams. It was great to see our teams compete so well in this competition.

Hagley Sports

Hagley Sports has come to a conclusion for the year. It was great to see our two netball teams and two football teams compete so well over the winter season. They played with fantastic sportsmanship and were a credit to our school. We have the Staunton Cup competition against Wharenui School coming up soon. All the very best to the teams competing in this.

Reading Together

Our 'Reading Together' programme has started with around ten families attending. This is a programme that gives tips and advice to parents about how to encourage reading and the love of books in your whānau.

Christchurch Schools Rebuild Update Number 2

The master planning committee continues to work with architects and we are looking at various options for the rebuild and refurbishment of our school. This has included visiting a number of Christchurch Schools. There are some exciting options that are being considered and these will be shared by our Board and the Ministry of Education when they have been finalised.

Have a fantastic week and please encourage your children to be respectful, responsible, real learners.

Ngā mihi nui

Paul Irving
