International Students
Felicity Upjohn - September 5, 2024
This initiative aligns with our strategic objective of enriching our school community by incorporating diverse perspectives and experiences, thereby enhancing the educational journey for all students.
By welcoming fee-paying international students, we aim to foster internationalization within our school community, creating meaningful opportunities for students and staff to engage with diverse cultures through collaborative teaching and learning. This cultural exchange not only broadens perspectives but also deepens our commitment to the values of inclusivity, respect, and understanding—core principles at the heart of Te Koromiko.
This initiative also extends our existing international programme, which includes virtual lessons with Chinese schools and student participation in camps in China. As North Canterbury continues to expand and diversify, we view the introduction of greater cultural diversity through our international student programme as a vital opportunity to foster global awareness and intercultural understanding among our students.
At Te Koromiko, we take pride in nurturing a learning environment that celebrates diversity and encourages curiosity about the world. The presence of international students enriches this environment, providing our students with authentic experiences in global citizenship. Through these interactions, our students develop the skills, empathy, and understanding needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
Our ultimate goal is to prepare all students at Te Koromiko to become connected global citizens, equipped to contribute meaningfully to society both locally and globally. By integrating international perspectives into our school community, we are not only broadening horizons but also enriching the educational experience for everyone.
