Each Friday, 10 boys attend the Te Awamutu Boxing Academy. A typical session begins with a group check-in and talk with the coach. The group then starts to workout, which generally consists of skipping, medicine ball exercises, bag work, circuits, tag sparring, hand weights and fun games. The sessions are non-contact and there is no sparring between students.
The sessions always finish up with a discussion about the “Passport to Success” values and a check-out from students. If the boys can recite the values in detail by the end of the 10 week course, they can receive a free gym membership.
