TKHS NewsletterSeptember 4, 2020

In Physical education the focus is on movement and its contribution to the development of individuals and communities

The PE Department (Mr Lupton, Miss Houchen, Mr Ikahihifo & Mr Ford) have had a busy year so far. Currently we are studyingWe’re on each other’s Team! (Teamwork) in Year 9 and “Doing the Right Thing!” (Social Responsibility) in Year 10. In Health both year levels are investigating “Sexuality Education”  during term 3.

Senior classes are very busy completing standards before they start re-sits and preparation for external exams.

Many classes have been involved in the “Tuakana Teina’ program where younger students learn with older students and vice versa. Students have really enjoyed this aspect of learning in, through and about Physical Education.

Our new vision for the Department is, “Growing global citizens in an inclusive environment, equipped for an active future!” Currently we are constructing our mission statement. We are very excited about the prospect of having a new Gymnasium and being able to conduct ourlearning programs from this facility will be a real ‘game changer’ for our department!
