Code Club @ Casebrook
Every Tuesday afternoon, I head to the Digital Design room — for the best part of my week; Code Club!
A bunch of us meet there after school to learn something really cool: Python programming!
I was really nervous to join and when I first started, I thought coding was going to be super hard and confusing. But our tutor, Alex, makes it fun and easy to understand. He’s a real life coder and donates his time to teach us. We started with simple stuff on Scratch and now we’re making little games using an entirely new language he’s teaching us, thankfully he gives us ‘cheat sheets’ so we can refer back and use the correct variables.
What I love most is that we get to be really creative and learn new things every week. We help each other out when things go wrong, which happens a lot - but that’s part of the fun.
I used to think coding was just for really smart adults, but now I know that anyone can do it if they’re curious and like solving puzzles. Code Club has made me feel more confident, and now I’m even thinking I might want to be a game designer or app developer one day.
If you like computers, games, or just trying something new, I totally recommend joining Code Club. It’s every Tuesday, 2:40 to 3:45pm, in the Digital Design Room. Hope to see you there!
