Imperial Russian Ballet (Sleeping Beauty) and the Royal Ballet of New Zealand (Nutcracker) at the Isaac Theatre in Christchurch

Dear Thorrington Staff/Students,

Over the course of the last two weeks our eldest daughter, Klaudia Hassett (HB18), and some of her fellow dancers from her Ballet School were selected to perform with the Imperial Russian Ballet (Sleeping Beauty) and the Royal Ballet of New Zealand (Nutcracker) at the Isaac Theatre in Christchurch.

These performances were the culmination of months of hard work; training with the respective Ballet Companies and some of their leading dancers. This was a precious opportunity for Klaudia and her fellow Ballet students to experience the extreme pressure that dancers are required to deal with building up to a performance. She also enjoyed the supreme satisfaction in delivering a perfect, technically hard, performance each time.

Klaudia also discovered that she had achieved a Distinction in her Grade 4 Ballet Exam with the highest mark in her class.

We would like to thank the Thorrington School teaching staff and students for supporting her efforts over the months. We believe that some of credit goes directly to the school culture which has contributed to her success.
