Deep Learning - How Things Work
At the end of last year, we surveyed our students to ask what they would most like to learn about as a focus for Deep Learning in 2024. Overwhelmingly, the theme of 'How Things Work' emerged. Curiosity to make sense of the world and take meaningful action are features of learners who love to learn and make a difference.
We have encapsulated the topics of interest into three key learning areas that are tied together by our overarching concept of connection.
The first learning area connects with the Aotearoa New Zealand Histories curriculum, the second encompasses a Science lens and the third a design thinking approach. It is important that we offer students the opportunity to think in different ways. For example, when we think like a scientist, historian or a designer, we are developing the skills of analysing ideas, reasoning, recognising perspectives and making informed choices. Most of all, we want our students to be excited about what they are learning and we look forward to sharing our learning with parents and whānau across the year.

Communication Plan
Schools are vibrant and busy places providing many opportunities for the tamariki in our care. As such, there can be a lot to communicate. We aim to communicate in a way that is timely, honest and clear. Our Communication Plan outlines our communication approach and what, how and when we will communicate.
Easter Holidays
Please remember when Easter falls during a term time that schools are closed on Good Friday, Easter Monday and the Tuesday.
