Cross country, junior netball and winter sports
Cross country news - After a few failed attempts due to bad weather last term we finally managed to run the 2018 cross country at school. The children all had a go at running the course with a few new obstacles like the hay bales and there was great determination from all year levels. I saw lots of happy faces and good sportsmanship, with children congratulating each other on their successes.

Thank you to all the teachers for all your hard work with the months of training you had the children doing and helping me out on the day. Thank you to the parents who came to support and cheer on the children. Also a big thank you to Bill who helped me plan the course, set it up on the day and marshall the event.
Thank you to the PTA for running the fabulous sausage sizzle and ice blocks!
The following children have qualified for South Zones cross country which will be held next Wednesday 23rd May. We wish them all the best.

Year 1-4 netball
This winter at school, with the help of Christchurch netball centre we are trialing a new netball programme throughout the junior school. The year 1 and 2’s are doing a FutureFerns programme each Thursday after school, which is being run by Christchurch netball centre. The year 3 and 4’s are playing 5 aside netball at Hagley park on Friday afternoons, coached and managed by the parents. We were very lucky to receive sponsorship from SGS New Zealand Ltd, community funding committee for uniforms, kits bags, balls and first aid kits. Thank you to Sarah Bachop for organising this.
Winter sport uniforms and HB sports equipment
The PTA have been spending some money on the sports this term. We have been really lucky to receive new winter sports tops for hockey, netball and football and new sports equipment for each HB. I have seen a lot of happy children outside every morning tea and lunchtime with soccer balls, netballs, hula hoops, skipping ropes and tennis balls. Thank you from all of the children.
