BYOD

Chris Panther —

Bring your own device (BYOD) is optional for Year 3 and 4 students and is "strongly encouraged" for Year 5 and 6.

As a follow-up to our  Year 4 and 5 parent BYOD session (at the end of last year), it was requested that we source some bulk purchase / discount options on behalf of parents. I have explored bulk purchasing with a number of companies which all feel as they bulk purchase devices (in the thousands) there is very little financial gain that could be passed onto parents if we bulk purchased 20 or so. Also it opens up issues with who the warranty is 'owned' by if the school purchases the devices on behalf of parents. However, I have made some progress on getting some great "Education" prices. I have attached three flyers from Noel Leeming, Office Max and Harvey Norman. I am told that these are the best prices that each of them can do, some have price match guarantees.

All devices listed on the following flyers meet our criteria and will connect to our network. Some of the quotes include insurance options, and free tech support to set up devices. All devices will need to have a case, so bundle options can often save you money as well. If price is your primary concern, then the cheapest device listed (that will be more than suitable) is the N22 Lenovo Chromebook from Harvey Norman at $298 ($384 bundle deal).
