South Zone Swimming Sports

Sporty Steve —

Delayed by a term, South Zones Swimming was a huge success

With the impacts of Covid in term 1, Swimming Sports was heavily affected.

Whilst the Canterbury Swimming Championships were cancelled for 2022, our School and South Zones events were pushed back into term 2.

Following the school event at Wharenui Pool on 10th June, we took a strong team of 15 students out to the South Zone event back at Wharenui Pool on the 20th June.

Once again all of our students did Te Kura o Huriawa Thorrington proud as representatives, some for the first time.

Our year 6 relay team of Henry Eccersall-Panther, Benji McLean, Harriet Pacey and Lillian Smith set the tone for the morning with 2nd place behind a strong Hillview team.

In the very next race our year 5 relay team of Josh Smith, Noah Smith, Mercedes Williams and Pippa Baars went 1 place better when taking the victory.

As the morning went on, every single representative made it through to their event finals, which is a huge achievement in itself.
