South Zones Cross Country

Steve Potter —

Josh and Will lead the way with a 1-2 in the year 6 Boys event.

A huge well done to everyone that competed out at the South Zones Cross Country on 25th May at Halswell Quarry. A big thank you must also go to all the parents and family members for their support of the Te Kura o Huriawa Thorrington students.

We now have 8 students going through to the Canterbury Primary Schools Championship on Wednesday 23rd June back at Halswell Quarry.

Josh Baars and Will Denison led the way with a 1-2 finish in the year 6 boys event with Will getting 2nd on the sprint into the line, moving up from the battle with the boy from Rudolph Steiner School.

In the year 6 girls event we will have 3 representatives as Nessy Flynn finished in 2nd place with Cleo Newman (5th) and Nina Kidd-Wisker (6th) rounding out the qualifiers.

Darby Pfahlert was the sole qualifier from the year 5 boys with a strong run at the front of the field before finishing 3rd.

With the year 5 girls, Emi Yeakley and Emily Currie finished alongside each other in 4th and 5th to both qualify too. Emi just holding off Emily who had a strong second half of the race.
