Helen Whitley —

A lot has happened over the last few weeks with sport.

Basketball

We sent a girls and boys basketball team to zones at Hillview Christian school, both teams played really well and the girls made the final. Well done to all those that took part, I was really proud of how well you played on and off the court. Thank you to the parents who helped with transport.

Primary schools gymnastic competition

Nico Lavin Hall, Ruby Roy, Milly Fear Ross and Livia Brookes all represented Thorrington Primary at the Primary Artistic and Rhythmic gymnastics competition. They all had a great day with pretty tough competition. A special mention to Nico Lavin Hall who got 1st High bar, 1st Parallel bars, 2nd floor, 1st rings, 1st overall and Ruby Roy - Step 5 1st on floor

Primary Canterbury Cross Country

On Wednesday 21st June the following children, Oscar Le Lievre, Hugo Knowler, Nate Vossler, Aimee Phillips, Amy Peters, Sydney Booth and Lucy Hudson Vink all raced in the Primary cross country at Halswell Quarry. Each race had approx 130 children and a very fast start which separated out the pack. The mud puddle was not quite as scary as zones and everyone made it back to the finish with both their shoes on! I was very impressed with the running talent at Thorrington and really pleased to see so many smiles. Its a huge achievement to make it to this event. A big congratulations to

Oscar who placed 4th in the year 5 boys and has gained a spot in the Canterbury cross country team, next stop Nationals in Timaru. Thank you for all the parent support on the day and a special mention to Sharon and Ken Phillips for helping with transport.
