Parumoana Athletics

On Tuesday 14th November, 34 students from Years 5 - 8 represented Papakōwhai School at the Parumoana Athletics day at Adventure Park in Whitby. The students represented our school with great effort and sportsmanship throughout the day. We placed 6th in the event and some excellent personal results were achieved:

  • Prestige Schwalger - 1st in Year 8 Boys High jump, 3rd in Year 8 Boys 1500m distance run
  • Nathaniel Hawkins - 1st in Year 8 Boys Long jump
  • Maya Rouse - 1st in Year 8 Girls Vortex
  • Miller Buck - 1st in Year 7 Boys 1500m distance run
  • Emma Harrison - 1st in Year 7 Girls Long jump
  • Courtney Higham - 1st in Year 6 Girls Long jump, 2nd In Year 6 girls 80m sprint and 150m sprint, 3rd in Year 6 girls 800m distance run
  • Isabelle Aubrey - 3rd in Year 6 Girls High Jump
  • Monique Hawkins - 1st in Year 5 Quoits
  • Elise Siwalette - 2nd in Year 5 Girls Shot Put
  • Niko Grant - 3rd in Year 5 Boys Long Jump

Our Year 6 Girls relay team placed 2nd and our Year 5 Girls relay team placed 3rd.
An extra special congratulations also go to the following students for achieving Parumoana records:

  • Monique Hawkins took out the record for 1st Place in the Quoits for Year 5 girls throwing an amazing 21.08m
  • Elise Siwalette took out the 2nd place record in Shot Put for Year 5 girls with her almighty throw of 7.35m.
  • Prestige Schwalger took out the 3rd place record in High Jump for the year 8 boys jumping 1.48m.
  • Maya Rouse retained her record, set last year, for the Year 7 Girls Vortex with her throw of 39.52m.

Congratulations to everyone who competed. It was a big day of competitive athletics.
