Parent -Teacher Meetings

Mark Smith —

There is an opportunity to do an end of term check in with your child's teacher on Tuesday 19th September in Week 10.

Kia ora koutou

We know that meeting face to face with your child's teacher is important, especially if you have concerns about the progress they are making, their behaviour, their well-being or you just have questions.

On Tuesday 19th September between 3pm and 7pm, in Week 10 of the term, we are giving parents/caregivers the opportunity to meet with teachers.

Please go to our booking website to make an appointment.

This meeting is for parents/caregivers who have concerns or questions about their child's:

  • Academic progress
  • Behaviour
  • Well-being

If you don't have concerns or questions about these matters you don't need to make an appointment.

If you are unsure whether or not to make an appointment I encourage you to contact your child's teacher. You can do this by email or SeeSaw.

Janie Goosen Rātā 1 and Lesley Hodge Rātā 4 are not available to meet on September 19th. They are meeting with parents/caregivers at alternate times. Please contact them directly to make an appointment.

Health Consultation

I hope you and your children have had some conversations related to our Relationships and Sexuality Unit we are currently teaching. We have not had very much feedback on the Health Curriculum and Relationships and Sexuality Education in particular, and would really value your feedback. Please could you take five minutes to click this link to give feedback.

This is the link to our Health Curriculum at Papakōwhai School. This is how we implement health education, including relationships and sexuality education.

Readathon Update

As at 9am today the Readathon has raised $11000. Fantastic!

Please return Readathon Booklets to your child's teacher. The child in each class that has done the most reading will win a prize.

We would appreciate sponsorship money being paid directly into the school bank account - 12-3140-0133108-01. Put your child’s name, class and READATHON in the reference. The class that raises the most funds (per person) will win an age appropriate prize.

The money raised goes directly to supporting the teaching assistants we have working across our school.

We would like all booklets returned and money deposited by Friday, thank you.

If August was a busy month and Readathon was not on your radar, we would still value a contribution towards teaching assistants supporting children in our school, if you would like to make one.

Out of Zone Places 2024

Our September BOT meeting was postponed from September 5th to September 12th so our process for out of zone places has been pushed back by one week.

If your child is in Years 1- 7 and is not returning to Papakōwhai School in 2024 please let the office know by Friday, if you haven't already done so.

If you have a child turning 5 next year or a child who is currently attending another school and you want them to attend Papakōwhai School in 2024 please contact the office by Friday if you haven't already done so. This is urgent if you are now living out of zone.

Holiday Programme

Our awesome After School team are running a holiday programme for Week 1 of the school holidays. Please see the article in this week's newsletter for more details.

Ngā mihi
