Kauri students serving our community
On Monday the 30th of October, all of our Kauri students took part in our community service day.
Luckily, the weather played ball and our students had a very rewarding experience - getting involved in several projects around our community. The feedback we have had about our students has been incredible - words like kind, initiative, hard working and polite were in abundance! We are very proud of the way they have represented our kura.
Collecting money for Support dogs
Two groups of four students shook buckets and greeted shoppers outside New World and the Warehouse Porirua. These students did an amazing job - raising a combined total of $693.30. Thanks to Shannon Van Waveren and Wendy Harper for your support!
Helping out at local Kindy's
All together, 18 students visited Papakōwhai, Plimmerton and Paremata Kindergartens to help out for the day. They read stories, played duck duck goose, hide and seek, painted pictures, chased kids and pushed swings all day long. They were a real credit to our school and their whānau. Thanks to Rodney Strong, Sonia Barnes and Ronald Overdevest for overseeing these students in their work!
Gardening at Horouta Marae
These twenty fabulous students got through several large sacks of grass and weeds at Horouta Marae and made a big difference on the way the property was presented. They showed great determination in sticking with it in warm weather. Thanks to Jo Henderson, Rachel Parker and Ann Apperly for getting stuck in and supporting the team.
Helping out around School
A team of 13 keen students did some much needed work around the school. There was a rather large fence by Rātā block skillfully painted, weeding done, trees removed and a real good overall clean up of the gardens and grounds. Mr. Carr was very appreciative of all the help he has received. Thanks to Dilhara Halverson, Julian Carr and Onawe Burgess-Meade for keeping this students motivated.
Papakōwhai Reserve clean up - hosted by PCC
The largest group, around 60 students, learnt about conservation and pest control at Papakōwhai reserve. They took part in cleaning up rubbish, weeding, pest control and some planting. Thanks to PCC, Kelly Parker, Mātua Sean, Debby Crawford-Jones and Hayden Thomson for making this one happen.
