Whānau group Lagoon Trip 2024
Chris Robinson - February 6, 2023
We will walk to Aotea lagoon and students will be buddied in older/younger pairs. They will be clearly informed of safety issues by their classroom teachers prior to departure and monitored as they walk.
Whānau are encouraged to walk with us (we will be leaving school at 10.45 am) or you could drive to the lagoon and join us. The children will then do a range of activities in their whānau groups and finish the day with an ice block back at school. All students will return to school at 2:00pm. It is a whānau group event, so we ask that students are not collected from the lagoon please.
Splash Pad
This year, we would really love to give the opportunity for students to use the splash pad if the weather allows. To make this happen, we ask that students wear clothes to school that are able to get wet. Shorts and an old t shirt or rash top would be ideal.
After using the splash pad, students will have the opportunity to towel off and change their t-shirts. We will set up school tents to use as changing rooms. These will be private. We will not be requesting that students get completely changed, as this could take up too much time.
Reminders for the picnic:
All students will need:
To wear shorts and t shirt/rash top that can get wet.
A small towel
A packed lunch including a drink bottle
A wide brimmed hat and sunscreen
Footwear suitable for walking long distances.
Students have been encouraged to wear the colours of their whānau group to demonstrate whanaungatanga (togetherness & belonging).
Kererū - green
Hoiho - yellow
Kākā - red
Takahe - blue
