Selwyn Sports Trust - Tour of Selwyn Fundraiser

Mark Maddren —

The Selwyn Sports Trust was established in 2013 with the primary vision of enhancing the health and well-being of all Selwyn residents. The Selwyn Sports Trust provides our Ākonga with the opportunity to attend the Koru Games, participate in iBikes safety skills training, and provide Sarah McClure, our activator, to work with our teachers and ākonga.

On Friday, 8 November, the event will take Mark Maddren and other cyclists across the district, covering approximately 150 km and raising vital funds for its Activator Programme.

Selwyn Sports Trust Activator Programme supports 22 primary schools across Selwyn, including West Melton School, ensuring quality access to physical activity for students. It provides strategic support and resources, empowering schools to deliver enriching physical activity opportunities.

Funding is crucial for the success of the Activator Programme. As a not-for-profit charity, the Trust relies on donations, funding streams and sponsorships to support its delivery.

Mark Maddren is training to be one of the 150 km riders and aims to raise $1000 for the Activator Programme. He bikes four times a week and runs and swims three times weekly, building up his endurance for the six-plus hour ride. The Selwyn Sports Trust has a Give-a-Little page set for any donations the community may want to give to Mark.
