LSC Corner

Jeanette Neal —

It has been great to see learners' confidence at the gates grow over the last few weeks.

We have been impressed by the resilience of our learners, especially the Kowhai children! Happy children are children that are ready to learn.

As Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) I have met with each community of teachers post lockdown and discussed any learners of concern. Teachers are working hard to differentiate learning for those that find it challenging and challenging the thinking of others to extend them. We work hard to provide the best learning environment for all of our learners and help each individual to grow and develop in their own way. I have been proud of how well our teachers have settled children back into school and are working hard to progress children's learning. Our teachers are passionate about your children and ensure they get the best opportunities to flourish.

If you have concerns regarding your child's learning, behaviour or wellbeing please email your child's pod teacher or the leader of learning in the first instance. Sparklers has some great resources to help support children at home and school.

Their latest newsletter had the following resources:

The impact of job losses, financial pressures and continuing uncertainty for those with health conditions make this a challenging time for many.  While we're all in different places, there are things whānau can do to look after themselves.

Sparklers at Home can be a great tool for whānau. The more children learn about their emotions - what makes them feel good and calms them in anxious moments - the better equipped they are to navigate life’s challenges.

How to talk to your kids about redundancy.

We've been thinking about the tough kōrero many whānau are having about redundancy.

We know this conversation can be tricky, and that children may have lots of questions. To help parents out Sparklers have come up with these top tips.

If you are experiencing financial hardship please don't be afraid to reach out, we may be able to support you or at least put you in touch with people that can.
