Kia ora koutou e nga matua, e nga whānau, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Konichiwa!

We are nearing the end of week 2 already! All of our tamariki have happily returned to the routines of school, and are enthusiastically embracing their learning. The best thing is that we are starting to move towards normality (if there is such a thing). It is lovely to see whānau on site and this is one more step towards this.

Our Covid cases continue to be steady at 1 - 2 positive cases a day. We have several staff away at the moment whether it is household or positive cases. We endeavour to manage this with minimal disruption and thank you for your patience as we do so. Our attendance rate hit a high of 91% yesterday since our first Covid case. Please note that we are continuing to ventilate the learning spaces and they are cooler than usual. This may mean an extra layer of clothing is needed under your child/rens school uniform.

There is a lot happening this term. I have just watched 77 of our ākonga leave by bus to go to Rugby Fun Day. Brilliant day for it! Dances in Schools finishes tomorrow, after two weeks of intensive dance sessions. We are recording these sessions however whānau are welcome to come and watch the final performance for their child/rens pod. Refer to Wednesday's Hero post for specific times. Next week we have our Cross Country. The children have been training hard and I suspect there will be a few records broken in the morning. The afternoon is a colourful event of fun while exercising.

Active Autumn kicked off this week. Well done to the ākonga who are biking, scootering and walking to school. It is great to see so many active children. Don’t forget to sign the card for every trip to and from school the children do so they can be in to win a new scooter. Cards can be dropped in to the office once completed.

The Student Exec have been busy planning Pink Shirt Day on Friday 20 May and activities for Anti-Bullying Week. Pink Shirt Day is the day Aotearoa comes together to take a stand against bullying. It is about reducing bullying by celebrating diversity in all its forms. The Student Exec would like everyone to support this initiative by wearing pink on Friday.

We wish our three competitors well when participating in the Halberg's Top Team next Thursday. We look forward to hearing about it when you get back.

It is great to see so many of the student's in the correct school uniform. Just a reminder that student's need to wear the correct:

  • Socks - blue, white or black - with no motif/logo on them

  • Shorts - blue with no motif/logo on them

  • Headband - plain and small

  • Polyprop - must be navy and worn under the top

Skins are not part of the uniform.

Every term we have policies that are due to be reviewed. It is important for us that our whānau are familiar with and know how to access our policies and procedures. All our policies and procedures can be accessed via our school website. This term our Behaviour Management and Healthcare policies are up for review. We encourage whānau to engage in these reviews.

Ngā mihi nui
