West Melton welcomes....

Stephanie Birkett - Tī Kōuka Community

Kia ora everyone,

I am very excited to be starting in the Tī Kōuka Community at West Melton School in 2022. I grew up, studied and started my teaching career in Christchurch before moving over to Melbourne from 2019-2021. I am grateful to be back in NZ, reconnecting with family and friends. I am hoping to meet the wider community by getting involved with Jump Jam and Rhythmic Gymnastics which are both passions of mine.

Clarissa Morrison - Mānuka Community

Tēnā koutou,
Kō Clarissa Morrison tōkū ingoa.
Nō Turanganui-a-kiwa au.
My name is Clarissa Morrison and I am excited to be teaching in the Mānuka Community this year at West Melton School. My favourite subject to teach is Maths because I love problem solving and the challenge of finding more than one solution. I am passionate about all things Te Ao Māori especially Kapa Haka. When I am not teaching, I am spending time at the beach with my two dogs, hitting the ice-skating rink or down the end of Weedons Ross Road on my dirt bike! I am looking forward to getting to know the West Melton whānau over this year!

Mike James - Toetoe Community

Kia ora, my name is Mike James and I am really excited to be joining the West Melton School whānau. I am a Year 5/6 teacher in the Toetoe Community. I am looking forward to building relationships, having fun and integrating myself into this wonderful community. I decided to become a primary school teacher after teaching ESL in China. I love making learning fun, engaging and memorable for ākonga. In my spare time, I love hanging out with my partner and our 2 year old daughter, Scarlett. You will also find me watching MARVEL movies and shooting hoops on the basketball court. It is a privilege to begin my teaching career at West Melton School.

Barbara Roundhill - Tōtara Community

I am delighted to be starting the 2022 year in Tōtara Community alongside a new team of teachers. I am passionate about students making connections from their experiences and prior knowledge to their new learning. I enjoy maths and science. My husband and I shifted from Wānaka to be closer to our 2 year old grandson. We spend our spare time working in the garden and exploring the Selwyn district.

Brad Meads - Tōtara Community

It has been an awesome start to the year in Tōtara and I am sure we have a great year ahead of us. I have worked in schools across the country from Dunedin, all the way up to Kerikeri. Although I enjoy working with students in all learning areas, my favourites are the performing arts and health/physical education. In my spare time I like to stay active, getting into the mountains for a hike or engaging in any racquet sport. You'll see me on site joining in on sports games with children and trying to squeeze as much of the arts into our weekly programme as possible!
