Sports Development Programme 2018

This term we have 6 students from Y6 to 8, participating in the Selwyn Sports Development Programme, run every Tuesday morning before school. Students had to apply for the programme, before being selected.
Our seven students meet up with other students from 7 other schools around the Selwyn Central area.
One of our lucky participants, Otis, has written about what he enjoys about the programme:
Morning sport is amazing! From fitness, to nutrition, to games and so much more fun! The course runs every Tuesday morning from 7:30am to 8:30am and the location rotates around Selwyn venues. There are a group of six West Melton students that join other sportspeople from other Selwyn schools. Just knowing ‘what to eat / at what times’ before and after a game and during the game, was so important to me personally. The course runs for approximately two terms.
Here are some comments from other students on the course -
“The thing that I really like about The Sport Development Squad is that we learn more and more each day.” George M.
“The best thing I think we have done so far is the teamwork. The team work is really cool because you get to work with people that you have never worked with before from different schools.” Ted W.
And also, the strength that we did at CrossFit was awesome! We learnt press ups and pull-ups, box jumps and much more. Best of all, there is lots more to come and this is only a small snip it of it!
