Kia ora e te whānau
A big welcome to our six new ākonga and their whānau that started in Tī Kōuka this week. For such a big move to primary school, they have all settled in well.
Next week, we are celebrating Neurodiversity Week, a time to recognise and embrace the unique strengths and perspectives of individuals with diverse neurological differences. It's a wonderful opportunity to foster understanding, inclusivity, and respect for all learners, regardless of how they think, learn, or experience the world.
At West Melton School - Te Kura o Papatahora we believe in creating a supportive environment where every child’s abilities and differences are valued. Throughout the week, we will be engaging in learning that highlights the importance of neurodiversity and encourages empathy and inclusiveness within our school community. Let’s work together to celebrate what makes each of us unique and ensure that everyone feels seen, supported, and empowered.
Last week we had ‘Walk or Wheel to School Week’. Well done to all our ākonga that biked, scootered, walked or wheeled to school. There were two days where it rained and still there were some resilient, hardy children achieving their goal.
We have had some fantastic events being held at school this term. Just a reminder that if you choose to park in the shopping centre car park, we have been informed that you risk being towed away.
The number of children waiting in the playground for pick-up after 3:15pm is increasing. To ensure health and safety measures are in place, children will be asked to come to the office if they are not picked up by this time. Likewise children arriving at school before 8.20am will be asked to wait outside the office. Thank you for your support and understanding.
On Monday is the AGM of the Friends of West Melton School committee (FoWMS). This could be a perfect opportunity to join a great team of parents who work together to enhance learning experiences and help shape a rich and supportive environment for our children. Every parent and caregiver who gives their time, energy and resources plays a crucial role in making our school a better place. This could be you! The meeting is being held in the staffroom on Monday 17 March at 7.30pm. I hope to see you there.
Have a fantastic weekend.
