It’s hard to believe it is the first day of Winter and we still have temperatures in the high teens… not to mention being over half way through the term.
It is great to see our building project is on track to be completed by the end of next term. Thank you for your patience as you navigate through the school.
There have been a lot of sporting opportunities on offer the last two weeks. Starting with the school cross country and Splash and Dash. The water slide was very popular for both students and a few adults. Congratulations to Tessa S, Jack H, Eva R and Finn S for winning the junior and senior, girls and boys trophies. Special acknowledgement to Finn who broke the school record. Good luck to the team heading to the Zone event today. Well done to the 32 ākonga that attended the Selwyn Central Zone Basketball tournament. It was an enjoyable day where our players showed plenty of DRIVER values. Honor and Flynn went with Cara and Sonya to the Halberg Top Team competition. They had a fantastic time. Congratulations to Eva and Maddie who represented the Year 7 and 8 community at the Lincoln Rotary Quiz. Well done girls on your general knowledge.
I was made aware of a situation that occurred the other day when children were crossing at the lights. They continued to cross the road after the green person had changed to red. I think we sometimes take for granted that children know what this means - however in this case they clearly did not. At school we talk about road safety and over a period of time learn about various safety measures in class. In the meantime it might be a good idea to talk to your child/ren about what the various lights mean and remind them about being alert.
Just a reminder to complete the Selwyn Schools Travel Plan survey. The survey closes on Monday 5 June.
Have a fantastic long weekend.
