Over the past few weeks, some of the Mānuka ākonga have been working in the Mānuka Garden Club with Erin. The ākonga have cleared old veggies, harvested pumpkins and tomatoes, weeded, planted broad beans and carrot seeds. The created seed planting strips.

They have also been cooking with food from the garden:

• Homemade hot chips and tomato sauce (made with tomatoes from the veggie garden).

• Pizza with roasted pumpkin, cream cheese and tomatoes.

• Lavender and jam shortbread biscuits

The Manuka ākonga are really enjoying learning about where food comes from and how to grow healthy food. A big thank you to Erin for her awesome mahi with the Mānuka ākonga.
