A fairly new approach to novel writing is to use a free verse poetry format - hence the term ‘verse novel’. Each page is only partially used by use of the verse structure and the flow and succinctness of the text is quite different
By year 9 at High School the expectation is that your child is comfortable reading and completing a comprehensive study of a young adult (YA) novel. Regular reading is essential throughout Syndicate 4 in order to continue to develop comprehension skills and improve vocabulary. A regular reading habit improves concentration, builds empathy, increases creativity, develops critical thinking and supports mental health. Above all it’s a great form of relaxation and entertainment! I am happy to help with book selections at any time in our library if your child is finding it difficult to find great titles!.
