At Lincoln Primary School our reporting system and your child’s learning journey can be seen via our student management system HERO. Our aim has been to implement a robust system that allows teachers, parents, and students to access learning in an online environment that is secure, easy, and effective. In terms of security, HERO commissioned Andrew Horton, an internet security expert, to write a report on the security features of the system. Andrew reported that the system was “as secure as some banks”. 

HERO allows teachers to share learning anytime, anywhere and this can be viewed on any device. Each student account is designed to build year on year so that over time you will have access to comments, assessments, images, video and helpful resources all in one place. 

As well as posting evidence of learning in Reading, Writing and Mathematics, there are pages that demonstrate learning in other areas (Education Outside the Classroom - EOTC, Syndicate Page, Technology - Year 7 and 8 only, Enrichment - Year 4-8 only). There is an opportunity for you to share and celebrate what your child does outside of school (Whanau Voice) and when you post on this page an email notification is sent to your child’s teachers. 

We have created a page titled ‘Student Reports’. This page is updated twice a year (end of Term 2 and end of Term 4). On this page your child’s teachers will share with you a general report comment as well as a progress chart. This chart will show you where your child is currently working in relation to the New Zealand Curriculum. You will be able to track over time the progress made in relation to the expected curriculum bands for each year level. 

Accessing your Child’s HERO Account 

How do I access my child’s HERO page? 

Step 1 Download the Hero by LINC-ED app from the app store

Step 2 Select "New User" Your account will be set up by your school using the email address that you provided when you enrolled your children, use this address to request a password. 

Step 3 Add your email address Select the "Request Password Link 

Step 4 Check your email. Hero will send you an email with a link to follow. 

Step 5 Follow the link. This will take you to a secure page to enter your chosen password.
