James Keen | Kaiako Year 8
I grew up in Christchurch and am very proud to still call the Garden City my home. I completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Canterbury before studying a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning. I was very fortunate to spend the first five years of my teaching career in Rarotonga. This was a truly valuable experience as I got to know the rich and diverse culture of the Cook Islands. I returned to NZ in 2019 and have been teaching at LPS for the past five years.
One of the areas I value most about teaching is the opportunity to form positive relationships with a wide variety of learners. I enjoy teaching many areas of the curriculum, particularly Maths, Social Sciences and Physical Education/Sport. I strive to prompte personal responsibility and foster an independent learning environment.
At home I am a father of two very active boys, plus our german shepherd, Chase. I enjoy playing softball, coaching junior rugby and exploring the great outdoors.
