Emma Thorpe —

I was born in Dublin and grew up in England. I completed a Bachelor of Science (honours) degree and worked in marketing before completing a Postgraduate degree in education.  Lincoln University offered my husband (Dave Nicol) a job and we moved to New Zealand and settled in the then small town of Lincoln. We have three children who used to use us as a taxi service when they were younger and now that they’re older can repay the favour. I play various sports including touch rugby and netball.  Although anyone watching from the sideline would observe that there is certainly more talking happening than running.  I enjoy walking and am highly motivated if there is a cafe at the end of the trek. Having taught at Lincoln Primary for many years I still arrive each morning excited to see what the day will bring.  As a teacher I see my role as instilling confidence in every child along with a passion to learn and attempt new things.   This year I am excited to be teaching students in Year 6.
