Tuna
In Tuna we have been learning how to programme the BeeBots. We create codes that have to go in a certain order.
This tells the BeeBot what we want it to do. To do this we draw arrows on whiteboards and we follow the instructions. We can make the Beebot go across to the other side of the room, turn itself around and then come back to us! Our next task is to create obstacles for them to go around.
We are so proud of ourselves because our handwriting is getting better and better. We don’t trace over a highlighter anymore because we know how to form the letter. When we form a ‘p’ - we say to ourselves “hanging stick and close the gate”. When we form an ‘f’ we say “feeler and twig”. We also know the sounds that these letters make. In our handwriting we get to use a blue pen, just like a big kid. We also know that it is really important to hold our pen nice and tight in a pinch grip and to sit up straight with our legs under the tables. When we practise our handwriting it activates a part of our brain that makes us super creative learners.
Whaea Tanya’s Tuna is all filled up! Whaea Anna has seven little Tuna’s and each week we are having more and more visitors to our space who will also be joining us. All our new people love our guinea pigs.
In the mornings we play a game called ‘Hedgehog’. We all scuttle around like hedgehogs and then we have to become a hedgehog. Someone is covered up and we have to guess who it is. It is so much fun!
