Nordy Words…
Kia ora koutou e te whānau. Here we are at the end of the term. I guess the adage ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ must be true. This is an extensive publication but is evidence of the fun term we have all had. In this week’s newsletter, we celebrate the fantastic day we had with our Grandparents/Grandfriends yesterday; we share we are changing our school hours for Term 4 and give parents in Years 5-8 a ‘heads up’ regarding the athletic sports to be held early next term.
Grandparents/Grandfriends Day
Yesterday we held a grand celebration with over 250+ Grandparents or Grandfriends visiting our school. What an awesome response. Our biggest yet.
It was great to see the interactions as our students shared their daily life at our school. As I talked with many of them, they were reminiscing on their primary school experiences and how things have changed. We certainly appreciate their knowledge and wisdom, which made for a great morning. Check out this video.
Laura Mummery was the organiser extraordinaire, supported by Ann An and her team. The meticulous planning meant the day ran like clockwork. Thanks, Laura!
Another feature of the day was the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) contribution. They coordinated and put on a fantastic morning tea. At the end of the event, one grandparent commented the morning tea was fit for royalty. High praise indeed. In addition to morning tea, they went on to cook over 1100 sausages for students, staff, and Grandparents/Grandfriends. What a massive effort from all that helped. Meredith and her team work so hard for our school and are a key part of the positive and uplifting culture. We thank them!
We also thank Craig Allchurch (Connect Visual), who took all the images and produced the video. Craig is a parent, staff member, and awesome photographer.
Change to Hours of School Day
During Term 4, we are trialling new break times and structures. To do this and ensure we maintain instructional time, we have adjusted the start of the school day from 8:55am to the new time of 8:50am. We expect this should not cause any significant challenges for whānau.
Year 5 - 8 Athletic Sports
We are excited to hold our athletic sports on Tuesday 18th, October, @ Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub. This event will run for the entire day, with buses leaving school at 8:40am with a start time of 9:30am. This will allow us to run events at a quality venue that accommodates all our students comfortably. Buses should have returned by 3:00pm. Whānau is more than welcome to attend.
I hope you all have a chance to have a break together over the next couple of weeks. Harikoa ki te kite i a koutou katoa. We look forward to seeing you all next term.
Ngā mihi nui, nā
