Miro - Hanmer Springs Hot Pools

Emma Thorpe —

Last week Miro class were the first ever children to ride the two new hydro slides; Violet Vortex & Waiau Winder at Hanmer Springs Hot Pools.

We were lucky enough to win this competition with our marble run entry that was in the newsletter last term. If you missed it, here is the link to watch it; Miro’s Marvellous Marble Run.

We had to wake up really early and be at school by 5:45am, and we were on the bus and away by 6am! It was a fun bus ride and on the way into Hanmer we got to watch Henry & Gabrielle on the AM show talking about us!

When we got to the pools we got changed into our togs and had a safety briefing, and then it was time for them to cut the rope and we were up the stairs quick as a flash!

Beau & Aeneas got their names drawn out of a hat so they were the first in our class to ride the new slides, Beau went down the Violet Vortex & Aeneas went down the Waiau Winder.

It was the best day and everyone was really tired by the end of it. We were really lucky to win this trip so thank you to all the parents that helped keep us safe on the day.

Student voice:

Charlotte - I enjoyed going on the bus because I could sit with my friends.

Matt - I enjoyed the Conical Thrill and when we made the marble run I liked when I splashed the water on the other boys.

Fletcher - I liked making the marble run because I had fun splashing the water in Mr Nord’s office. My favourite slide was the Violet Vortex.

Izaiah - I like hydro slides, the Super Bowl was my favourite!

Isabel C - I liked the Super Bowl because Bella and I got stuck in it.

Zoe - I liked the Conical Thrill because I was brave and went on it even though I was nervous. Gabrielle screamed so much. I liked the bus because the seats went back like on aeroplanes.
