NORDY WORDS...

Chris Nord —

Kia ora koutou e te whānau... in this article, we update information for our end-of-year events, let you know our term dates for 2023, and share information about our Transition Day later this term and our Open Day at the beginning of 2023. There are a lot of dates... but they are important!

End-of-Year Assemblies & Events

Assemblies

We are all very excited about the planned changes to these events. We had published the dates. However, we have had to change the date for the Year 0-4 and the Year 5-7 assemblies. This is due to the numbers exceeding even our expectations. So, to accommodate as many as possible, we had to change to the Lincoln Events Centre. Unfortunately, the same date was not available. This necessitated the change of date. However, this change means we can welcome all that want to attend.

However, we acknowledge that this change has meant some whānau who had organised their work schedule to attend on the original date have had to make changes again. For this, I do sincerely apologise. In the future, we will ensure these dates are published well in advance (at the beginning of the year) and that we stick to these dates.

Here are the details of the three events:

  • Thursday 8 December 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm Year 8 Graduation (all students + Year 8 whānau)
  • Wednesday 14 December End-of-Year Assemblies
    • Years 0-4 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm
    • Years 5-7 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm

Celebration of Learning

This will take place on Wednesday, 7 December, from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

We encourage whānau to come and share in some of the learning your child has been involved in this year and join us for a picnic dinner (there will be a break in the middle of the classroom sessions). Our school bands will play for entertainment, and an ice cream truck for the kids.

Transition Day

Our Transition Day is planned for Wednesday, 14 December, from 9:00 am - 10:40 am. Students go to their 2023 space and meet with their Pastoral Teacher on this day. They will meet their new classmates and begin building relationships, which is so vital to the class culture. Students from outside our school starting with us in 2023 will also attend on this day.

There is also an additional opportunity to meet the pastoral teacher at the beginning of the year before school starts. This Open Day will be held on Friday, 27 January, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. This is an opportunity for whānau to drop in and meet the Pastoral Teacher, have a look around the space and drop off their stationery (this gets it out of school bags before the first day).

Planning for 2023

If you have already bought your 2023 diary, here are some dates to put in (if you are old-school).

Here are some top tips to help make the end-of-year run smoothly for us all:

  1. If you know your child is leaving LPS next year, please let us know ASAP. Telling us now will avoid complications after this process is complete.
  2. Watch out for the Stationery Lists and Class Placements published on Monday, 12 December.
  3. Put the end-of-year events in your calendar... and you even add next year's term dates and holidays as well.

We look forward to the opportunities for us all to get together over the weeks ahead and end on a high note.

Have a fantastic and fun weekend.
